I wanted to check and see if anyone knew if NCSU's vet school accepts transfer students from Tuskegee's vet school.

I've had a tough year with 3 out of state denials, and I'm waiting to hear from NCSU in state. I just got an interview offer for Tuskegee. My hope would be to get in there with the plan on transferring to NCSU's vet school. What I don't know is if NCSU has accepted transfers from Tuskegee. In my situation, it would be extremely hard to do all four years out of state.

Just checking to see if anyone knows if they have / will take Tuskegee transfers.

Thanks!

I don't know, and you will probably have to call student services to get a definitive answer, unless one of the second years on SDN knows of someone who transferred from Tuskegee. I tried to look up their first year curriculum, to see how well it matched up with ours, but couldn't find it on their website. We have a transfer student from Ross right now who isn't in some of our classes, so that does mean NCSU will accept people from schools whose curricula aren't a perfect match for our own.

I wouldn't attend any school if you wouldn't be happy attending all four years, or at least willing to suffer through. What if you aren't accepted as a transfer?
Either go somewhere prepared to make the best of it, or apply again next year to a school that might be a better fit for you.

NC state has a section on their webpage and I have spoke to an advisor before about this (NC state grad)...I was DEAD SET on NCSU and could not imagine going anywhere else...I was told about transfering to never count on it, a spot has to be avaialble, your cirruculum at one school has to match another (this would probably pose a bigger problem with 5 year programs overseas or caribbean schools who are on a different schedule), and you must have EXCELLENT grades to transfer. I agree with other posters in that if you cannot imagine being somewhere or toughing it out for 4 years then do not apply...(I only applied to two schools because for personal reasons I HAVE to stay within a reasonable distance of NC, no point in applying elsewhere)...Tuskegee is a great school, I know a TON of people who graduated and attend there and I have heard nothing but great stories...best of luck in your decision!

Don't go anywhere with the expectation of transferring. It's way to variable to count on. And as others said above, only apply to schools you'd be wiling to attend for all 4 years.

👍 I agree with this (and what david said too)... if you wouldn't be happy staying, don't do it at all.

Thanks for all the replies. I've got an interview at Tuskegee and will definately check out the school.

My first choice is NCU's vet school but with each year it seems less likely for me. Being 1.5 hours from home is more appealing than 8.

Thanks again. It just helps to "talk" about this with others with experience and advice.

I hear ya Kat. I have an interview on the 21st at Tuskegee and I am from California. It's scary being that far away from home and it is more appealing to go to my state school. But keep an open mind, we might just fall in love with Tuskegee... You never know 😉
