Hey all, I know interviews are a long way off, but I'm just trying to think ahead here. The problem that I am likely going to run into is that my most signifcant research experience is going to fall under a very heavy NDA. I work for a pharmaceutical company in drug discovery biology and essentially can't disclose anything. How would you handle something like that in an interview?

I had a similar problem with a medical device company. I was only allowed to talk about very basic information: medical devices company, how long, applicable to spine surgery, patent pending, company name... that's it. If you are worried about not knowing what to say (like I was) write out 3 sentences about your research that doesn't violate the NDA, so that you're prepared for the interview.

You can say that you are bound by NDA. You may have to explain what an NDA is exactly, but all my interviewers respected it. They were also somewhat interested in the role I had on the team -- lead, project lead, technical expertise, random grunt? and just the fact that we went into the operating room, watched doctors, interviewed doctors, and had doctors play with a prototype (but not to the stage of having them *use* it or doing animal testing yet).
