How Does The Class Of 2010 Feel About The Changing Format Of The Nebo? Do You Think It's Fair? Are We An Experiment And Hopefully We Won't Fail? Scarey!!!!

It will be a good thing... I think??? I think the "clinically relevant" content shift will be good, but I hope our class doesn't turn out to be the guinea pigs of a test gone horribly wrong. The administration of Part I will be moved from August between 2nd and 3rd year to late spring of the 3rd year (beginning with Spring 2009 test dates). I worry about balancing everything going on during the semester with trying to study for boards. :scared:

Here are some links I found discussing the new changes.

The tentative 2009 Exam Schedule can be found here --> http://www.optometry.org/exam_schedule_2009.cfm

Can anyone else shed some light on what they've heard?

I heard that it wouldn't be a surprise if 1/3 of the test is thrown out after we take it. They evaluate which are good/bad questions. So, we might have it 'easy' compared to classof 2011.

One of the "participants" on the NBEO review board is one of the UHCO contact lens profs. I remembered he was and looked for his name on your PDF file. (and there he was)

I'm sure you will be fine but im awfully glad i am taking it in august.. i heard that it will just be a really long test combining part 1 and 2 and there will still be basic science questions just a lot of clinically relevant added to it. some of the professors at my school said they think the pass rates in general will probably drop about 20 percent because you are not competing against other students just against a standard score... and also you have to study while trying to do all the stuff that goes on during 3rd year instead of in the summer while you have a lot more free time. a lot of professors i spoke with actually believe that this test will probably only be in place for a couple years and thenn they will have to modify it a lot or probably just go back to how it was before... ???

Are there any professors that feel we are being set up to fail? I have to work very hard for grades so I am so worried that I won't do well. Please, help!!!!
