Need a book for Immuno

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I used the 2004 edition last year. My professor said there was very little difference between it and the 2006 updated edition that was out. However, there is a new edition coming out this year, but I know nothing about it. You might want to check on this.

There is a green one, an "updated" green one, and then a pink one. The pink is the most recent (2007), but they are VERY similar. If there is one more recent than these, I don't know. But my first instinct would be to tell you to use any of those three. It is a really nice text, too.

The most recent version which I used this year in our Immunology course is actually yellow. It's the updated 2006-20007 version. Overall, the book is very complete and detailed. The diagrams are wonderful and just by flipping through the book, you can tell that it's very high quality. Also, the book is well-written and it's evident that Abbas is a master of immunology. After all, he was added as a co-author to the most recent edition (7th) of Robbins. In conjunction with this book, I also used the Lange Review of Microbiology and Immunology which is a much more CONCISE book and doesn't require as much reading per topic. Lange also has many questions to do at the end of the book which is quite useful in your studies. As Lange's title implies, it's a REVIEW, while Abbas's book is much more complete with regard to immunology. Good luck.

Edit: The newest version is actually the 3rd edition and has an orange and purple cover. Sorry for the confusion-on Amazon, it states that it was recently released. Anyways, my comments still pertain to the edition I have (2nd edition updated).

unless I am mistaken, the yellow and/or light orange editions are not the same book. Those are called "basic immunology" and they are the baby versions of "cellular and molecular immunology".

The one I thought was pink is actually pastel orange with a stripe of green at the top. That one is most recent. Don't buy Basic, the C&M book is simple enough, imo.

I used Medical Medical Microbiology & Immunology by Warren Levinson, but just the Immuno section. Gets to the point and everything u need to know. I used Abbas, Basic Immuno but its so repetitive that it kills me, lol.

U can also use the first few chapters of Pathology of Disease by robbins and first aid.

I really like Janeway's Immunobiology by Murphy, et al. I am about half way through reading it and everything is very clear and well organized. There is a new (green cover 2007) edition out, but I have the older pink version (2004 I believe). From what I understand, there are significant updates, so it is probably worth while to get the new edition.
