Ok so I really am stuck about what to do and would really appreciate any advice. I am a senior with around a 3.7 gpa and am currently studying for the mcat. Now my dilemma is regarding my ec's, I have approximately

75 hours of hospital volunteering
30 hours of shadowing (Im aggressively working on getting more this summer)
Almost 2 years of research in lab

the majority of my time for the last 3 years has been involved in martial arts, I was a student then I became involved for a year in a leadership program were I was helping the Master run classes kind of like a T.A. For the past year I have been working as an Instructor. So in total I have had around 2 years of leadership experience in the martial arts world. So now that I am a senior and in my last year I would like to strengthen my ec's in time for next application cycle.

My issue is whether I should continue with my job as an Instructor, is this something that med schools would look favorably on? or should I quit and concentrate on something I may be lacking? I would really appreciate any advice, im hesitant about asking my pre-med advisors, they dont inspire confidence in me...

Do not just quit your instructor job...

but you do need to get some clinical exposure... I don't remember the exact numbers that Catalystik recommends... but I would say you should get at least double the volunteering hours you have.

OP, are you my doppleganger? Our GPA and ECs are quite literally identical. I can tell you what you're going to get on your upcoming MCAT. 😉

Yeah I do think I need more clinical hours but the problem is with my course load during my senior year and mcat studying, I dont think I can do everything so my question remains; would this leadership experience trump the extra clinical hours?

aSagacious, if you could tell me my mcat score that would be great 🙂 it would save me from many sleepless nights..

IMO, the job experience will trump the lack of clinical hours. I say you have enough. Don't do any more shadowing after this summer - after about 50 hours. Focus on clinical and non-clinical volunteering when you have the time (about 4-hours per week between the two).

As long as you can explain why you want an MD, you are set. No need to be forcing clinical experience just for your application.
