Hey guys,

I just got back my MCAT score, it's my second time, and was able to improved 6 points from . But the problem is that my score is really unbalanced....

1 attempt:
P: 7
V: 7
B: 11

2nd attempt:
P: 12
V: 11
B: 8

I don't know what happened on bio... I didn't feel good about when I came out, but I wasn't expecting such a low score... Maybe I studied too hard for the other two sections...

I feel like I performed my best on the other two sections, and don't want to re-take it since I don't think I would have scored another 11 on verbal ever!

Is there any school that would screen me out with that 8 on bio...

Also, I need some advices on medical school choices. I am a NJ resident with a 3.9GPA

Some suggestions please!!

thank you!

3.9 / 31 is very good.

There is no reason to retake.

It's obviously not as good as a balanced score, but if the rest of your app is solid and you apply early and broadly you should be fine.

I had almost the exact same score as you both from a numerical and breakdown standpoint. The difference was that my 12 was in BS, and my low score (7) was in PS. I got an 11 VR as well.

This didn't give me any troubles, and was never brought up in interviews. I wouldn't worry about it. 31 is a solid score, especially with a very strong GPA like yours.

I have only heard of screens of 7 or below. Your 12 in PS and 11 in verbal are both in the top 95% you're fine.

My scores were VERY similar to yours. Just be sure to apply EARLY and you will be set.

Apply, see what happens, I think you'll be good enough to gain an acceptance as long as you have good ECs. Apply broadly and early.

Holy smokes! Congratulations, you are me in an alternate universe.

My GPA? 3.9

My first MCAT? 25 (8/8/9)

My second MCAT? 31 (12/10/9)

Pretty darned close all around! Your point distribution is a little more unbalanced, unfortunately. But I think that if your bio subsection score is the weakest part of your application, and you did well in your biology courses, you shouldn't worry about it! Congrats on the 6 point jump. I know how awesome that feels.
