NEED ADVICE ASAP no degree

So what happens if I am on a wait list for a DO school and I have to take 1 more class to complete my bachelors degree. BUT I cannot find a VALID course I need to enroll in that finishes before the school starts. The one my school offers ends august 9th and they do not accept online credit....

In other words, what happens if I get accepted off the wait list and DO school starts on August 1st but my summer class that needs to be complete before I have a degree does not end until august 9th?

You would have to take that up with the school. Can't you take the course the first summer session instead of the second? And is it a pre-req or just a degree requirement class? I would think if its a pre-req the med school would say no, if its the other they shouldn't care as long as you get your undergrad diploma within a reasonable time.

If your school doesn't require attendance, you could skip the first week and stream lectures.

Definitely call the school, but if you have to, travel to another college (even at another state) to take that class early. You should also talk to the dean of students at your school and explain your situation. Schools like to have a certain % of graduates go to graduate school and would likely prefer it to forcing you to take one extra class.

I am almost certain that no school will allow you to matriculate without a Bachelors Degree. You should have been more proactive and planned your classes more wisely.

Seems like a waste to defer over a 3 week overlap in schedules.

I would talk to the medical school to discuss your situation, but I would also bring this up with your prof, the department head and dean of students.

It's only a 9days overlap, if the course doesn't explicitly require attendance maybe you can maintain enough points to be able to skip the final or even arrange to take the final off-campus at a testing center.

Also I think it would be hard to convince them to let you defer off the waitlist but who knows.

What everyone else said. Also, I would suggest having a talk with your department head and ask him/her if you can petition a course they're offering in summer 1 as the degree requirement course.

I thought a year of psych or sociology was a requirement for a bachelors. At least for science majors.

You can take it through Univeristy of Alaska-Fairbanks Correspondence ( or some other similar set up) and get it all done before the deadline. You just pay your money and get your materials in the mail. That's how I took that class.

Oregon State University has a large number of summer classes, not sure if it would be a class that satisfies the requirements

Ask your uni, if you can take another course in substitute for the course.

Talk to your school instead of posting on a forum full of pre-meds. Your potential school is the only one that can tell you what you have to do.
