Hi,
So, I'm currently applying to Pharmacy schools this summer. I had asked an organic professor of mine to write me a letter about a month ago and she agreed. Since she agreed, I kind of slacked off and didn't go to other professors' office hours to get to know them. Now it's been a month and my organic prof still hasn't talked to me about my letter. I've tried writing her multiple emails, left her voicemails, and even left her notes on her office door but she has not responded back to me.
I'm not sure what I should do now?
Any Advice?

Thanks!

It's possible she may be out of town. I know my professor was out of town around this time last year but when she came back, she submitted my LOR right away. If you are really in need of submitting a LOR asap, I suggest asking another professor. It DOES NOT have to be an organic chem professor. Getting a LOR from an organic chem professor doesn't increase your chances of getting into pharmacy school. It's what they say in the letter that is most important. So I hope you're not stuck on that idea. If you aren't then find another professor who is capable of writing you a strong LOR.

Well, from my experience at a community college, getting to know your professors is pretty crucial if your thinking about asking for a LOR. My gchem I class size was about 140 students, with 4-5 lab sections. Going to office hours and asking questions in lab was one of the ways that I was able to stand out from the "crowd".

Also becoming a TA for your professors is probably the "best" way of getting a good LOR. Being able to work with them for 3-6 hours a week in lab after you have passed their class with an A is definitely going to get you a solid LOR. That's basically the reason for TA positions. Sure you get some experience working in a lab environment, but the majority of the time you are just checking student's lab work off so that they can move onto the next part/lab. I did also make unknowns, do demonstrations for certain labs, etc but the underlying reason to TA for such classes is to build up the relationship with the professor, so when you ask for a LOR they will be more than willing to write a good one.
