Hi all , I'm applying to pharmacy school this cycle and I need advice on what to do if I get in. I do have a passion for this career, but the job outlook is giving me second thoughts. By the time I graduate I will be looking at a 200k debt without grace period. I really wanna be a pharmacist but I don't wanna get chased by loan sharks when I graduate.:scared:

I need some good advice on what to do in pharmacy school in order to out compete others when I graduate. Please be specific, for example, if I work as a intern pharmacist, how do I get them to keep me as a pharmacist once I graduate? How do I get connections with the drugstore chains?😕

Thank you!!!!!!

You can relax a little. The payments on your $200k debt will still have a grace period, meaning the month after you graduate you will not need to sign a check for $1,600~ to your loan providers, you will however the responsible immediately for the interest accrued. That's not a small amount, but it's a far cry from paying on the total amount due.

🙁 That is if I can find a job within a month. After reading all the horror stories here on sdn, I'm having doubts. I really wanna be a pharmacist... but I also wanna live!😱

Fair enough, what are your alternatives?

I honestly have none because I have always wanted to be a pharmacist. I'm hoping for at least a 50% employment rate for new grads so I can still work somewhere🙂

If you have always wanted to be a pharmacist, then you will find a job. You will network, you will relocate, you will impress your preceptor and you will be a pharmacist.
