hello all.
I am a pre-pharm student. my first year i did decent gpa 3.1 , but then last years i had to drop and din't get a chance to withdraw from all my classes so I received F's in my bio, physics, and 2 ohter classes (not part of pre req) so it went down . I retook physics and recieved a B+, and now taking Bio again. is there any schools that only look at pre req grades so i don't have to retake the other courses again. how do the schools look at those classes that i got lower than C and had to retake?
i don't have many extra curricular activities, and taking pcats in october. i've worked at walgreens for over a year. wat are my chances i can get in? or wat schools would be good for me to look at?

The first red flag is that statement I bolded. Admissions boards are looking for people who are mature enough to withstand the pharmacy curriculum. Why didn't you get a chance to withdraw? Was there a real reason or did you just not do it?

I think if you're going to try to just do the pre-reqs, without a degree, to get into pharm school, your package shouldn't have any easy targets. Retake the non-pre-req F's, if only as a matter of character.

My best advice is to study hard for the PCAT and ace it. Your weak areas are grades and EC's, so you'll need a high PCAT composite to compensate. But it goes without saying you need to raise your GPA and get involved in some kind of EC.

Bella...

OK, first of all, you're going to do horribly on the composition portions of the PCAT (not the pcats, there is only O N E) if you don't improve your writing still. You lack most punctuation and elements of prose - Work on that. It'll also be really important come interview essay time, not to mention how rough your PS will sound with such terrible writing.

Second, you want to look for schools that offer academic forgiveness, like University of Southern Nevada. They will basically "forgive" the last 5 years of academic work and, essentially, just take your pre-requisite work. However, their average GPA of admittance is ~3.7, due to that, so if you want to do a forgiveness/amnesty thing, make sure you get straight As.

You've got a tough road ahead of you. Are you at a 4 year school? What geographical area are you looking to apply to? If you get a great PCAT score, even if your GPA is a little less than desirable, you might be able to apply to schools that don't offer A.F. also. How many more pre-requisites do you need to take? What's your GPA now, and what's your GPA projected if you get straight As in your remaining courses?

Work on your ECs. Volunteerism will go a long way. Are you a technician (CPhT) for Wag's?
