I am stuck in a dilemma and thought i could possibly get some advice here. Approximately, 3 months ago I assisted a friend of mine who was applying to dental school. More specifically, i was helping this person write fake letters of recommendations, on fake letterhead, fake name, and completely made up content. I dont know why I actually agreed to this but I did. I didnt think at the time I could be preventing a more qualified HONEST applicant from getting accepted. This LOR was only sent to one particular school in which my friend was ultimately rejected from. I also completed the applicants answers to the supplemental application questions as their writing skills are at the high school level at best. I proofread, which meant i basically rewrote the entire thing for some schools as well as completed the entire supplemental application per request from the applicant for other schools. My friend is curently attending one of the schools in which i completed the entire supplemental app for. I guess im feeling a little guilty and wanted to know if this type of thing is common or even heard of. I understand its not nearly as important as DAT scores and GPA but i now question the integrity of dental schools and their admissions process as I contacted the school and they did nothing about it.

So you did a bad thing, now feel guilty about, contacted the school your friend attends and tried to fess up/rat your friend out?

I don't like to preach so I'll keep it short. The dental schools recieve thousands of apps and it would be impractical to try to verify every single LOR and EC. They can usually find out if you were BSing during the interview anyway, so not much harm done.

The aroma of this story is about as pleasant as the carcass of a week old dead fish that has been baking in the sun.

Yeah 3 months ago is June, he wouldn't be attending dental school yet........ Not sure schools take applications in.... June?

Your timeline wasn't very good for someone that wanted to troll on SDN. I'm sure that a variation of your story exists though.

Yea, troll thread but a variation of your story, I'm sure, has happened numerous times. Students do get others to write their papers for them, fake LORs etc, but in the end, they are only cheating themselves and many times, you will get caught during the interview process
