Yes, there is such a thing as being overqualified for the job. The primary concern of the INS is that you should get paid according to the skills you have for the job. Now a foreign trained dentist,although not licensed in the US, has the skill set of a dentist and cannot be paid accordingly- as a dental assistant

Maybe you could do a course in dental assisting and try for a visa. If your aim is to get a DDS degree from here, it would be wiser to get into college ASAP.

Ofcourse this is only my opinion.

I am new here,
I am on an F2 visa and I went to a lawyer to change the status to be able to work as a dental assistant and he told me I can not change the status because the IRS or whatever their name is, will say I am overqualify for this job, that I do not need a bachelor degree to be a dental assistant that anybody can be..and I have it and I am overqualify.They will ask the dentist why he couldn't hire an american from the streets🙂jokying...but that is my problem..

This lawyer is an immigration lawyer so I guess he knows what he is saying.

Is there anybody else with this problem or anybody can give me an advice?
