Here is my situation.

I applied to Upenn about 3 weeks ago (mailed out 7/6), but I couldn't finish to write

my Upenn supplemental application because of personal reason. I know that they are not

going to review my application without it, and I know I am late.

I found that Upenn recommended that applicants submit the

Penn Dental Supplemental Application and application fee within two weeks of submitting

the AADSAS Application. I got the letter indicating missing items with brochure from

Upenn on 7/21.

So, here are my questions.

1) I am trying to send my supple + fee (at least) this month using priority mail. Is it still OK?
Or, am I too late to turn those in?

2) How long should I write for each question? How about a paragraph with five sentences for
each question?

Thank in advance!

Hey,

I can't give you any real advice besides telling you about what I did, so I hope this helps.

Here it goes!

1) My AADSAS app was also submitted in the 2nd batch (7/6) and I haven't received any letter from UPenn yet, but I mailed out my application via First Class Mail on 7/25 (so about 2.5 weeks later). I would say you should just try to get it sent out as soon as you can. I wouldn't think it's late, they just recommend that...not require it.

2) Also, to attempt to answer your question about length: some questions were short and I only took up one or two paragraphs, but other questions were longer so I had a few paragraphs. I tried to be concise and to the point, and not redundant. I was trying to answer the question in as few words as possible, but I know that's really hard, so one essay answer was literally 4-5 paragraphs long.

I am in the same boat. Just trying to finish it ASAP and send it out.

was the long answer one the question about difficulty dental industry will face? took me 4 to 5 also for that. Had to think long and hard.

No worries, I submitted mine a week after my AADSAS was mailed 🙂 I had to think long and hard about the questions, too 🙂

All of my essays were one paragraph and I fit them all on the same page. I said what I wanted to say and kept it short and sweet.

Wow! I'm very impressed! I could never do that... 🙁

Hmm, it wasn't that one for me. The one that took me 4-5 paras was the one about how well I interact with other people...I talk a lot...and so I had a lot to say, hah.

But yea, the difficulty in dental industry was quite difficult, too. But I guess it was good practice for me to try to put my thoughts into words. :-/

Yea.. those two were tough.. cause. you wanna keep it interesting and original... at the same time you are trying to keep succinct... was tough for sure. I much emphasis do you think they put on the secondary essays?

I got the brochure only a couple days back too so I was way over the 2 week recommended for the fee. W/E I don't think that honestly should matter when its FREAKING SNAIL MAIL CHECK. Supplemental was mailed out today and I wrote a little over 2 pages for all the 4 questions. The difficulties question was definitely the hardest!

4-5 paras isn't exactly concise fellow applicants...read the instructions

for those who are done with the secondary
"3 What do you believe are or will be the biggest challenges facing dentistry?"
did you guys stated what you think the problem is and suggest solution?
