Hello, I'm using this throwaway to only ask this question. I was hoping I could get your advice on something that I couldn't find a thread about before (if there was a thread my bad, if you could link it I'd appreciate it!)

It's about withdrawing from classes and the process of retaking them.

Over the past year I was taking a one-credit non required medical science course. It's an infamous course in the university as it used to be four credits, above most of the other courses, but was bumped down to one credit as many diligent, hardworking students were taking the class and failing due to its intense difficulty, which then destroyed their GPA and their chances of getting into an MD school. So the school bumped it down so student's GPA would not suffer so much, but it still has the course load of a full 4 credit class.

I had taken this class among others, as well as multiple other responsibilities outside of the classroom (Jobs, research, volunteer, you know) and found myself doing awful in this class while my other classes were doing great (others were all A's and this one was on course to get at max a D+). I decided to drop the course before it was too late with a W.

Now I know that the shoot from the hip response would be to retake the class later and get an A, but I'm not entirely certain that I would be able to do so, as the course was simply that difficult and I have little time to fit it into my schedule during my senior year of undergrad. How would it look to a medical admissions panel to see a W taken on a nonrequired one-credit course that was not then retaken later?

Thanks a bunch, and I'll take all the responses I can please!
