I am currently enrolled in Two-years' Full Time MBA course in 'Health Management' in a Reputed Indian University (Delhi). MY first year of MBA is about to complete and I am suppossed to choose either 'Specialisation in Hospital Management' or 'Specialisation in Pharma Management' for the Second year. Kindly advise which one to choose. I am a female and my concerns are.........

........Future job prospects in Hospital management / Pharma management.
.......Career-Prospects in Hospital management / Pharma management.
.........Future prospects of growth of 'Hospital management' itself as a upcomig field.
........Nature of Job (I shall not be interested in a kind of job which puts tremedous pressure on me in terms of time and other job requirements)

Kindly advise.
Thanks.

Well I would suggest you talk to someone at your school who can advise you of these issues you have. I am unsure if that means you'd like to leave your country to use your degree or if you are planning on using it there.

I'd imagine you'd have the same opportunities everywhere. I don't know about the pharma management but the hospital management would be exactly what it states. You will be trained to manage hospitals financially ... Many hospitals need bright people to help find ways to keep technology up while keep costs down, especially with the rise cost of healthcare (at least here in the US).

Any job in a hospital will have time and pressure, any job PERIOD will require time and pressure. How much you are willing to put in would be requirements of the position not of a generalization.

I am a female as well as I realize family might come first so these are all things to consider when accepting a position not necessarily when you are looking down a career path. I have my MBA in healthcare management to utilize my business skills later down the road in either a hospital or private practice setting.

You would be best advised by advisors at your home institution to counsel you of why they have to the two tracks and which one might be right for you.

Best of luck. :luck:
