I just finished my undergrad, and I hope to be going to medical school soon. I am banking on an acceptance from the one school that interviewed me...Anyways in the mean time I have 6 or 7 months until I start medical school if I get in. I wanted to find a research job in psych or neuroscience...it hasn't been easy given my time constraint, but I have found something. Currently I have the option of working in clinical research at Hartford Hospital or Volunteering in psych research at Columbia-NYSPI. I am from the new jersey area, and I would most likely enjoy doing my residency in NY. I was wondering if you guys think it would be better off for me to spend my time volunteering at columbia making connections, rather than take the job at hartford hospital. Does anyone have thoughts on this, is doing research a good way to make connections for residency anyways? Does it make a difference, where I do my research? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My friend, do the research that interests you. THat's the important thing. If you're truly interested in a project, you'll shine.

During your 4 year of medical school, do a sub-I, rotation at Columbia. That will matter more. Good luck.
