so guys i m graduating with my bsc next spring finally. i applied last cycle to lots of schools but got rejections. i know it sucks 🙁 . my gpa is 2.8---very bad 1 F, and 2D's 😱 . re-writing DAT next month (got 18's and 19's last time and determined to get above 20's). have tons of volunteer experience in dental as well as in community work.

i thought to give it a shot one more time. i know my GPA sucks. But I want to be a dentist no matter what. I know there is chance i might not get in D school next year. So here come my plan B i am thinking to apply for D-gygiene 2 year diploma as well. I really don't want to do post bacc or masters and i don't want to take a year off because it will just stress me out. I want to stay within dental field. and to bump my GPA i will take some undergrad courses on the side.

What do you guys think of my BSC cell bio-->dental hygine->DENTIST career path. At the end i know i want to be a dentist. any suggestions? will it hurt my chance of getting into D school?

A DH may not hurt, but it certainly is not going to help.

dental hygiene will neither hurt nor add much to your credentials. The better option would be to do a post bac or a masters program. This would allow you the chance to raise your GPA. If you can't raise your GPA and you dont do well on the DAT (seems like you didnt even take it yet) then you should consider the hygiene route as a backup. For now hygiene would be a distraction and wouldn't help your GPA as much as a post bac or masters program.
