So, I am currently a freshman in college, who is already worried about his DAT scores very sadly. I developed a plan yesterday that I would basically start studying for the DAT now. So, I guess my question would be is it a good idea to start studying for the DAT now, even though I am missing basically ALL the concepts for the subjects that would be on the DAT? In studying for the DAT will I be able to learn these missing concepts? And last question, is the preparing for the DAT sticky at the top of this sub-forum still up to date?

Thanks!

now would be absolutely the worst time to study for the DAT. calm down chief, you are only in first year. You haven't even taken any of the prereqs and if you study now, there is a good chance you will forget most of what you learn. You should ideally take the DAT after 2nd year when ur done with ochem, gchem, and bio.

If you are just so anxious though, I'll tell you the best way to prepare. Master the PAT and QR section. You can start out by buying crack the dat PAT and doing problems, now. With the PAT section practice is what really counts.

I think its too early to start preparing for DAT. Focusing and doing well on your bio and chemistry courses will automatically prepare you for the DAT and keep your GPA high.

It is WAY too early. Especially for the chemistries, trying to learn them without any background could be a disaster. If you want to do anything, go ahead and start studying for the PAT. Buy Crack the DAT PAT and go through it!

It's wayyy to early to start studying for any of the science sections since you're only a freshman. However, you can start preparing for reading, PAT, and math right now so that you can just focus on science once you start studying for DAT hard core. I started studying for PAT a year before I took my DAT and I was always into reading so preparing for RC wasn't too difficult. I also started going over the QR (math) stuff a few weeks before I started studying for DAT so that def helped too.

Dude, I was like you. Become ocd with your classes like I did and study for DAT over winter break like the PAT section only. Buy crack the pat so you have it forever to play around with. Seriously, focus on getting A's in everyone of your classes. Enjoy your youth while you still can lmao. When you grow up, take the DAT, and apply to Dental school life gets much harder than gen chem, math, bio at the college level. God only knows how hard dental school will be. You studying orgo now, is like me studying for the boards now hahaha don't psyche yourself out. The DAT is easy, and most importantly doable. Good Luck!
