I am a trained dentist from Germany and live in Texas and just got my Green card also i am preparing for NBDE 1
what are my chances to get acceptance to dental school in TEXAS
Also if you could tell me how to approach towards this long way street.

Well.... that you live in Texas,is a strong factor in your favour,just like any resident applying to a state dental school but to tell you the truth...the same standard requirements apply and the best candidates will be taken. As of now, only san antonio basically runs a formal FTD program, Baylor doesn't really care for us.They tell you ,DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!!!! without any apologies to your feelings.Houston prefers fresh students from the start,so you need to take the DAT. From my research of the 3 schools, Houston and Baylor have it on paper as part of ADA guidelines but they tell you its 99.999999% unlikely in real life cos its based on the probability that someone fails in the D2 class before you are considered (of which they may not even choose to replace the candidate)and the last time it ever happened in Baylor was 7yrs ago, houston--impossicant!!!!!!! ........not in a very long time,if you go by what they have written on thier websites its better to write the DAT and apply as a Ist yr student.I doubt you care for that option

Hence San Antonio is the Best and to me the only option........ i have visited basically the 3 schools, SA is the best and most accomodating to FTD. If SA is your choice, there is a bench Test,there is a written Exam and there are 2 oral interviews ,of which there is a likelihood that one of the oral interview is a clinical (viva) oral session where they can ask you over 20questions... if you do great , Bingo! if not..........you are done!!!!!!...... its not just a walk in the park, its thorough and scores are not all they look for .......they screen the entire package.

Thanks for all your help and the information you gave me but i dont want to go for speciality progam .
I just want to go for dds .Do i still have to do bench test and written Exam?

yes you are right....SA is the only option in TEXAS and we have to do all that. another point that you mentioned is true. they don't only see your scores but also how you do your interviews and your beach exam. 🙄 well we have to work hard if we want to go to SA and we all can do that. okay good luck to all👍
