Here is my issue. I started my UG years ago right after high school. Problem is, I was immature, and simply not into school. As a result (you guessed it) I took a bunch of classes, and did poorly. Finally woke up and stopped going to school, but the damage was done. Here I am years later finally mature and ready to do what I should have done years ago. Some of the classes I took years ago did apply toward my degree (which I do not have yet). Other classes did not apply.
Should I retake the classes that apply toward my degree?
Once I have my degree will the classes I took for the heck of it be used to calculate my cGPA? If so, should I retake them?
Do Microbiology and Anatomy/physiology class help at all when applying to med school?
How do you think the long drawn out time span on my transcript will affect me?
Thank you

Don't get ahead of yourself. If you're ready to go back to school and do it right, great. But first you need to get in and rock it for a few years before you can even worry about applying to medical school. You're at step #3 right now, no use worrying about step #61.

For now, just concentrate on taking classes you like and doing as well as you can. Those old classes are going to be with you forever, but unless you're applying DO, retaking old classes is no better than doing well in new ones.

Your GPA will be lowered because of past work, but if it's a long time ago, and you're doing categorically better now, most adcoms will see that you've changed as a student and are now ready.

Micro or anatomy/physiology are fine, but they don't help more than any other bio class.

A long history doesn't have much bearing in and of itself, the reasons behind it are more trenchant.
