So I attend a top 20 university that is extremely difficult academically (Pre-med program being the toughest). I was a business major and have taken a lot of business course but I would like to now attend medical school. I know it’s very competitive and I have lot of work but I am willing to go to any medical school (MD or DO) in can get accepted to .I calculated my G.P.A and can probably get to a 3.3 realistically with hard work. So my Question is should I stay at my top 20 university (with insane premed competition) or transfer back to my home state (Florida) and attend an easier state school Or Do a Post- bac program . What is the best path to take at this juncture . The advisement office at school was no help.

Thanks for the advice

I would go home and do an informal postbac at an easier school under the "excuse" of going home and saving $.

That way you have a valid reason and can get that GPA up. For MD in FL, you will need to get that GPA up to a 3.5 at least unless you plan to get a 34 MCAT.

DO schools replace grades at some schools and their stats are 25-26 MCAT and a 3.45 GPA. Much more doable...in your situation.

Dont forget to get ECs. Clinical experience, volunteering, shadowing, etc. They can help that weak GPA out!!

Transfer home as soon as you can. Your highest priority is straight As if possible. Go where you are more likely to accomplish that. Spend an extra year as an undergrad to get your GPA as high as possible if you want an MD. If you didn't do well in some of the prerequisites, you may need to repeat them.
