Need DO letter, out of ideas

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
TBH I got my opportunity through a connection. I even had another opportunity through a connection fall through because of HIPAA. I cold called a lot of places, had a few say "yes" and never get back to me. And I live in an area with tons of DOs. Its probably the least "fair" part of the process because pretty much everyone I know applying DO gets the DO letter through some connection. Sorry I cant be of more help. Maybe contact the school and see if there are any faculty DO's willing to let an admitted student shadow and then write a LOR.

Yeah I contacted them and unfortunately they just gave me a list of names that already declined my request.

Did you explain that you are an admitted student? A lot of docs that dont let undergrads shadow, let med students shadow. They might make an exception for you.

I suppose I could try contacting them again, but I really would prefer to not be "that" guy.

I would hate to be "that guy too". I would hate not attending medical school because of a LOR requirement even more.

Can you "shadow" a resident and ehat documentation is needed?

I can shadow a resident as long as they are not first year. All I need is a letter stating I shadowed them and an endorsement for medical school.

I'm not even sure if this is worth asking, but would it be appropriate to offer money to a DO to allow shadowing?

Get on Google tomorrow and call every DO within 500 miles. Go shadow, get your letter, live out of your car for a week or two if you have to. make it happen.

Go over to the Osteo forum and ask students at VCOM to hook you up with a DO. If you were in my state I would help you out.

No this would be totally inappropriate. Mostly inappropriate for them to accept than for you to offer.

Called almost 200 places in total, found 1 dermatologist over 800 miles away that I'll be shadowing next week

That's absolutely insane. Good luck!
