  1. Podiatry Student
Hi guys, I recently took my MCAT and I am a little disheartened about my score. I received a 20R, with a BS - 9, PS - 7, and VR- 4...My current GPA is a 3.45, and a sciGPA of 3.32. My major is Biochemistry, and extra currics are mainly undergraduate research (2 years +) in both a molecular bio lab and a microbial biochem lab. I believe I will get great LOR from both of my research profs, and have done about 100 hours of volunteer work at a child care clinic. I have shadowed a pod (25 hrs), and he said he would write a LOR, and seemed really enthusiastic about it. Honestly, I'm really worried my verbal score is going to prevent me from getting in anywhere, should I retake or just app now with my score? Much appreciated.

As long as you have a well written personal statement, you'll get in anywhere. Just apply now (very early in the cycle) and you can fulfill your dream of becoming a podiatry student.

Anywhere except Temple. I spoke to their admin office and they said that they would take a mcat score of 18 (as a case by case sitution) but will not accept a mcat score with a verbal <5.

You should contact the schools you are interested in and ask what the minimum cutoff is for an individual section on the MCAT. Explain to them your situation and then maybe they can advise you on whether or not you should retake the MCAT. That way you will know for sure 🙂

Thanks guys, appreciate the responses.

Just retake that beast. That way you will have better choices of schools. Most schools require at least a 6 on any section.

Honestly, when I was interviewing around at several schools I liked them all until I interviewed at the school im at now. I found the school that fit me perfectly. It was felt so much better than the other schools. If you just apply to one school you may never find the one that fits you. Good luck.
