Creighton vs. UPenn vs. WesternU vs. ASDOH

I am a very indecisive person. I like them all.

Cost aside.

I am from southern Cali and live an hour from WesternU. However, I do look at this as an opportunity to explore a new place for 4 years. I do plan on coming back to California.

I may want to specialize which is one of the reasons why UPenn sounds so enticing. For example, in 2016, 23 people matched in ortho, 12 pedo, 12 OMFS, 5 endo (based on a sheet they gave us at the interview). However this could be from the fact that people that go to UPenn already know they want to specialize rather than the school putting students in a better position to specialize.

Also, the dean at ASDOH told us 34 people matched into ortho a few years back. I loved the area around ASDOH. Very suburban. Block curriculum here as well.

Should the thought of specializing factor into my decision?

Creighton offers phenomenal clinical experience from what I have heard and the people I have talked to.

Any thoughts appreciated

Creighton because it's the least expensive. You can specialize out of any school as long as you study hard and do your extracurriculars.

Thank you both for your responses! I may be getting a scholarship that would negate a large portion of costs so lets say cost isn't a factor. Would you still choose Creighton?

Assuming I get it, then I might choose something "better"

If cost of attendance was the same at all four schools, I would go to the school where you enjoyed the location most. I don't know which of those schools I'd choose, since I haven't visited.

I'm sure each program will give you a great education, so why not look at where you'll be living for four years? Did you like the feel of one area over another? Sounds like you liked ASDOH.

If location isn't really important, was there anything you really liked about a certain program other than specialization rates? Extracurriculars? Research opportunities? Community outreach? I'd start by thinking about all of that.

Great points thank you!
