MD applicant, submitted July 12th, c/s GPA 3.83 MCAT 27(PS 7 VR 9 BS11). MA resident

Tons of research and volunteering hours at the hospital I was treated for cancer at.

PI is Harvard medical professor along with colleagues , 4 publications, 3 in major journals 1 first author.

Umm yah so took MCAT 6/13/14 and my PS score sucks know I have to retake that, do I roll the dice to a few schools or is it a waste of money and I should get my PS score up and apply next year? This isn't an awful situation for a retake I'm hoping ...

Is it worth it this year or not?

With a 6 in your subsection, you are pretty likely to get screened out...

You can always throw your name in somewhere but at this point in the cycle, if you are just submitting, I wouldn't expect much.

Yeah, wait until next cycle. Still, with that score, it will get you screened out. Retake the MCAT and maybe throw in some shadowing in there or volunteering to keep your mind off of the MCAT for a few hours a week

Depends on what your averages were. If you think you can do better, you should retake.

Think about the potential! You can retake anytime before January, and if you were able to bring that up to like a 33+ or something, you'll be very competitive for many many schools especially with that awesome research!

Best of luck!
