Hi Guys,

I really don't want to retake my test. I was sort of burnt out after my test last January, but I didn't do as well as I wanted: TS 17, AA 18. I was just going to submit my applications in June, but now I feel like since I'm not 100%confident in my scores, should I restudy and push for retaking my test again and the end of summer. This means I won't be able to apply until August. Is August applications considered on the late side? I don't know what to do. I've been stressing on prolonging my pre-dental career, but I don't want to waste time and money, if I"m not going to get in anywhere.

Any Advice is appreciated. 😳

Thanks So much.

You don't have to wait until August to submit. You can state that you plan on retaking the DAT in one of the sections, and list the future date. Then, when you get your scores, forward them to your schools ASAP.

i may consider retaking them..i think it's better to apply a little later with strong stats then apply early with lower stats. so if you think you can improve your scores a bit, i'd wait, but try to take it as soon as possible. the sooner the better. just go really hardcore for like a month or something..it will pay off. i applied late bc i knew that i could do better on the dat if i waited a little, and it all seemed to work out. best of luck.

and ya, you can submit, it's not a problem...but most schools won't look at your app until it is complete with the new dat scores.

I think depending on your gpa, your DAT might not hurt you too much. I am not certain, but I believe when you retake and send scores to schools, they are able to see the results of all past tests, so waiting to submit everything might not be beneficial in that respect. I think schools still might consider you for an interview with what you have and not submitting your application would very likely only eliminate that possibility. Holding off on applying they'd still see what you made first time around and by the time you submit with new scores they very well might have made bookings for other students for their interviews and might not consider you as highly depending on the kinds of applicants they have scheduled. If you have a decent gpa and other parts of your application are somewhat strong, I would wholeheartedly consider submitting everything earlier than later. Good luck.

I think you should retake. August is not so late to send your new DAT score. I took my DAT in mid July but submitted my application in late July, and I had interviews in early October. But make sure you apply early, like now. Good luck.
