I have an overall GPA of 3.45 and Sci of 3.35 with AA/TS/PAT = 20/20/19 and an Illinois resident.

I need help eliminating 5 schools from this list. Any input would be much appreciated!

Also if I should substitute any of these schools due to out of state vs in state or stats trends.

  1. UIC
  2. SIU
  3. Marquette
  4. Indiana
  5. Kentucky
  6. NYU
  7. Michigan
  8. ASDOH
  9. Midwestern IL
  10. Tufts
  11. VCU
  12. USC
  13. Creighton
  14. Buffalo
  15. Boston Univ
  16. Western
  17. Maryland
  18. Louiville
  19. Temple

These are my 5, not because of any specific reason, but more of a gut feeling.haha. GL

I would take out:

Buffalo - Have you been there?? In the winter with Lake effect snow and you can't see anything?? Or in the summer when the snow is gone and you can actually see the city? Yuck!!

ASDOH - Do you have a TON of community service?

Temple

Creighton

I'd definitely eliminate Kentucky because it accepts only ~15 OOS per year.

Apply to ASDOH if you've notched many community service hours. Otherwise, I don't recommend you to apply because your chances are slim.

I also won't eliminate Buffalo. It is one of the clinically known schools that allows you to pay in-state tuition after your first year.

If you are remotely considering applying to LECOM, then just apply. In the end it's only a few hundred bucks versus that lingering thought of how you should have applied.

Personally, I applied mostly to schools I thought I would give serious consideration to if I got into my state school as well. If you get into UIC or SIU or Midwestern IL and LECOM, would it be a no-brainer that you would not go to LECOM? If so, then seriously think about spending the money. It looks like you have decent stats so you probably have a good chance of landing multiple interviews with the list you already have.

My list is similar to this, and I'm curious:

For those who suggest eliminating ASDOH -- how many hours should an OOS applicant have to even stand a chance there? Are we talking in the high hundreds or in the thousands here?

How many community service hours would you say is "enough" to consider applying to ASDOH?
