You can also fly into the Piedmont Triad airport which serves, greensboro, Wintson Salem, and High Point. It is about 160 miles away. You can also fly into Charleston, WVa, which is about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive. However think about how tired you will be after flying across the USA, so you might very well want to spend the extra money and fly to Roanoke and then only have a 30 mile drive. It might be way easier on yourself.
We have a number of people in our class from the West Coast and as far as I know all of them fly in and out of Roanoke.
I would pay the extra and not have a long drive ahead of me.
