Hey guys i need a little help.

I applied for this cycle in the beginning of August and I have been rejected from most of the schools i applied to but am waiting on a few. I have not received any interviews so i feel like i am done for this cycle, but that might just be me being a pessimist. anyways, i have a (3.4/2.9) cum/sci gpa. I know my sci gpa is really low. I got a 20/21/17 (AA/TS/PA) on the DAT.I have many hours of shadowing because I have worked at a dentist office since senior year of high school.

I am applying to some post-bac programs but had some questions involved with that. If i apply for those programs now then I would not apply again for Dental school until the summer of 2011 right? So if i apply for a year program than I would have to find something to do for the other year after i apply, right? Also does anyone know about any straight programs like temple USE to have?

with those DAT scores, it seems that the only thing holding you back would be your science GPA. Especially considering that you haven't gotten any interviews. I would say best bet is for post-bacc or grad school and take some upper level science courses to show them you're capable of handling a heavy course load.

If you apply for those programs now, then you would get in for Fall of 2010. And if you apply for dental schools again in the coming June, then you would be doing your post-bacc program while waiting on schools. Unfortunately, depending on the school, they might want to see a full year of grades before they make a decision. The Graduate program at UMDNJ does this (which blows btw) If that is the case, then you will have to apply again and you're looking at a year off after you complete your masters/post-bacc program.

I would say best bet is to call the schools you're highly interested in and find out if you do a masters/post-bacc if they actually take into consideration one semester of grades or if their policy is to want a full year of grades before they make a decision.

Hope that helps. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions

I think a master's program would definitely cinch it for you. My friend did a master's program at Nova called Medical Health Sciences or something. According to her, it was a lot of upper level courses, fast paced and everyone who did well got into med/dental school. I think a bunch of other schools have it too. You should check it out. Good Luck!
