  1. Pre-Dental
I will be taking Orgo 1 anatomy and genetics this upcoming semester and want to take the DAT sometime in February/March. I was going to study everyday for it and go hard core during winter break for a month. Is this advisable to study for the DAT during school and since j haven't completed Orgo 2 microbio cell and molec and anatomy 2? Please help

If you think you can handle it with that courseload, then by all means. There are people on here who have done it. If you want to study heavily during the semester, consider lessening your credits. If you're going to study lightly during the semester and go hard during winter break, like you said, those classes should be fine. Only you know your study habits, though.

You don't need anything past the pre-reqs to do well on the DAT (upper-level sciences don't hurt, but are not essential). Orgo II can be self-studied, but again, if you would rather take the course, postpone the test.

Thank you. I guess my real question is, am I able to learn the material myself and everyone talks about the 8-10 week study schedule but I wouldn't be able to do that as vigorously as them so does that impact anything? I am planning on studying most of the time, I have started studying for my classes and the PAT now during the summer so I get a head start.

Nobody knows if you can learn the material but you. If you have had a hard time self-teaching concepts don't try to do it for the DAT.

I think I'm pretty good at it especially since at school it's more or less just a PowerPoint presentation

Totally depends on how good you are with the subjects being tested. Some people don't need 8-10 weeks of vigorous studying to do well. If you think you do, revise your study schedule.

I would do most of the biology study now, in the summer. You can do OC and GC in a few weeks, but biology needs time to settle in. Same with math if you're not efficient in it. I sure as hell wasn't.
