I am ending my sophomore year in the next few weeks. This is my plan for the coming semester. So my question really is, when should i take the DAT?

Summer 06: Taking Physics 1
Fall 06: Taking Ochem 1
Spring 07: Taking Ochem 2

During the summer, i plan on studying for all the sections of the DAT other than ochem. I would take Ochem 1 during the summer instead of physics but the professor teaching is somewhat bad so i decided to stick with the fall.

May/August of summer 07... And I would look at the o-chem stuff even though you haven't taken it yet. You'll probably have review for it in whatever DAT book you're using, anyway, not to mention it would prepare you for what's to come...

yeah, if you have the chance to start preparing for orgo early, go for it. Better yet, buy the textbook you'll be using and use it to learn the material. Orgo was probably my worst subject in undergrad, although I did put in an obscene amount of time preparing for exams. For some reason, it was my best section on the DAT's, so who knows why.

I agree with wigglytooth. Its better to take the DAT right after you have taken the subjects that are on the DAT when it's still frech in your mind, especially organic.

Also, like the others said, even though you aren't taking organic yet you should start going over the material. Anything you do will be helpful even if you page through just to get a feel of what's going on. The more you are exposed to the material the better.

Good luck. It's great you are planing ahead, I wish I had.

thanks everyone for all the help. Since i'm going to be here at the university this summer, im going to sit in on the ochem classes and just attend the lectures informally. that way i can get some exposure to the class and when i take it next semester i should be able to do better.
