Try looking in Robbins Pathology-- it's a really good place to start.

Start with Robbin's Pathological Basis of Disease-- the colon section. They're pretty basic symptoms. I think that you're going to find that the differential includes bowel obstruction, maybe inflammation of the bowel (i.e. Crohn's), diverticulitis, etc. Then go from there and look up the treatments.

Up to date would be the first place I would look if your school has access (which I can't imagine it doesn't).

They always have algorithms.
