My problem is that I really want to pursue a career in dentistry, but right now I am currently in a certificate program. I can finish with a bachelor's in this program and have a backup job in case I do not make it into dentistry, but then I would have to probably take another year or so to finish prereqs for dental school. Do you guys think it'd be better if I stopped after the certificate, or finish the bachelors? I've also heard of admission committees frowning upon those who abandon their certificate program, is this true? If so, what can I do? Help please!

Certificate program in what? Hygiene? Either way I'd suggest you finish the program you're in, and 100% get the degree, and then take the extra year or so to finish the pre-reqs, you don't want to rush them.

The problem is that my certificate has nothing to do with dentistry. It's a certificate in Radiological Sciences.

So what. Getting a degree in a field not closely related to hard sciences is more beneficial for admission purposes. Because you will be a minority, it is far more difficult for an engineering major to complete his/her degree requirements while taking all the prereqs then it is for a biology major who does not have to take any extra classes to fulfill the prereqs. Finish your degree with the dental pre-reqs, apply to dental schools WHILE you work. This is a win-win. You have will have an actual career in radiology, money, and something to talk about during interviews 🙂
