Hello,

I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me. I will be applying for postbacc programs, to enter in the fall. I have never had to handle loan applications before, and so could use some pointers.
Do postbacc students generally apply as fifth year undergraduates, or second-degree undergraduates, to get federal and private loans?
If I plan on attending postbacc this fall, do I have to fill out the FAFSA now, or in 2007?
Has anyone had good experiences with certain private loans?
Any tips or what not would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Go to the Harvard Extension School's Health Careers Program website. On it they have info about possible scholarships, financial aid, federal loans, etc.

FYI, if you're under 24 you're still a dependent (******ed IMO).

You'll be filling out the FAFSA this year if you start this fall. I would go with federal loans in the vast majority of cases - they are much more lenient on rates and deferral terms.

You could also try sallie mae ( www.salliemae.com). I had my loans consolidated with them and I know they offer a number of loans. Call them up, and explain your situation. I did, and they looked up the loans I was eligible for and gave me the rates and all that information. There is definately one for us, although I can't remember the name of it off hand. Just ask for the loans that you can get as a student of the Harvard School of Continuing Education or something like that. Good luck.
