Sorry if im posting this in the wrong area...

Hello! I finished undergrad in 2007 with a 3.15 gpa and 3.16 sgpa. I know these grades are not great, and I have also repeated orgo 1 and physics 2 (I got a grade F in both classes the firs time around but retook both courses with a B+). To make matters worse, my undergrad transcript shows a downward trend...I got really great grades my freshman year and half of sophomore year and messed up my junior/senior year.

Since then I have gone to grad school (GPA 3.7) and my mcat score is a 26. My ecs include volunteering at bike tours and at the Veterans Hospital for the past few months.

My dream would be to get accepted either at nycom or touro ny.

What are my chances? Don't be afraid to be honest, and if you have any suggestions as to how I could improve my chances, please let me know. Thanks!!!

not enough information. need your location, race, degree earned in grad school, all your ECs.

You are. Next time post in the what are my chances thread. As for your stats I am not much help. Are you a URM, state, ext. please provide a little more info so people can realistically sum you up.
If you want to gauge your chances more, go to MDapplicants.com click on the school/schools you want to apply to. (Prob all D.O.) and you can see other applicants that got into the school, and you can see what their stats were/are.

Thank you everyone for your reply. I have found the ”what are my chances” forum and havereposted my stats there! 🙂

But just to answer the above response regarding more info...im a ny resident and was a bio major in undergrad. I was always planning to go to md or DO school. After i screwed up my junior/senior year i didnt know what i wanted to do career wise since my grades were no longer Med school worthy. I then worked at a Chiro's office about a year at the front desk and shadowing and liked what I saw.

So I applied to Chiro school in 2009 and will be graduating in may 2013 with a 3.7 gpa. I know my Chiro courses cant be used to boost my undergrad GPA, but I hope the DO admins can see that I had an upward trend in my 4 years of grad school.

I know this is an allopathic forum so I hope this post doesnt start any anti ”quackopratic” debates hahah. Im really here trying to get some honest advice about applying to DO school bevause I didnt know until thw clinical phase of Chiro school that the scope of practice is way too limited for chiros and im pretty sure it is not what I wanted.to be doing for the rest of my life. But I didnt have tim3 tostusy for my mcats and risk failing my Chiro courses. That is why I have waited until now to apply to DO school.

Im typing from my phone so I apologize for the spelling errors...

Hmmm.. Well you are definetly not out of the running sir. I believe that if you apply broadly and early next cycle you have a chance out getting in. Since you have both a low gpa and a low mcat score you may want to work on one. I would take another shot at the MCAT if you are willing, and don't take the test until you are scoring constant 30s on the practice test! Alsmost anyone can get into DO medical school if they don't have a criminal record! It's just a matter of how hard you want it.
If you are unwilling to retake the MCAT you could start retaking the glasses you got C's Ds of Fs in. DO schools replace grades, so you could even bring your GPA to a 4.0 if you work hard enough.
Basically you could try your luck and apply next cycle, but as you are waiting I would take a shot at the MCAT again or start grade replacing and keep the ECs up.
Good luck, and hopefully the next time we talk you will have decided if you want it bad enough.
