so i am an up and coming senior trying to get into some 7 year dental school. i have been shadowing my dentist for like a month now as well and am sure dentistry is the path i want to take. so as far as my grades go i got a 1400 on the SAT out of 1600 and have like a 4.2 GPA out of 4.6

i also do a lot of volunteer work and sports. what are my chances of getting into some 7 year schools, and if so can you recommend some i may have a chance to get into. also not sure of my class rank yet but idk if it will be in top 10%. thanks for any help

There are quite a few 7 year programs. Best way to find them is to google search 7 year dental. You'll see most of them.

The only school in the nation with a 5 year and a 6 year program is UoP.

Btw, if you're just looking for a list, google searching is much quicker and much more effective than posting on here and asking. You shouldn't be that lazy or dental school can hit you hard. If you're asking about advice as to which programs are good, then be advised, people will probably be biased. I doubt anyone's been through more than 1 accelerated program.

believe me i have already done a great amount of research on many of these schools. just couldnt find their requiremetns for the 7 year programs except for a couple of schools. the reason i ask these ?s are because some require top 10% and im not sure if i am so i dont know if i will get accepted to some of these schools, which is why i ask for schools people think i can get accepted to. also google does not tell you their average acceptance for 7 year programs like it does for actual dental school.

it looks like you have some solid scores, but beware, accelerated dental programs are pretty competitive; uop's dental schools is one of the best in the country, but the price tag is big. anyway, that was my opinion. it was beneficial that you shadowed a dentist, because these dental schools like commitment, they like that you have prior experience in the field of dentistry

yea only problem of uop is that its in like san francisco and im on the east coast. i may apply to see if i get in but it would be a hard decision to go to school there.

Everyone moves to different place to go to school... I think it is a great part of learning experience. I moved away from my home on purpose even though I got accepted to Stanford, because it is 5 minutes walking distance from my house 😛

do you think my ggrades are decent enough to get into the 7 year at uop??

UT Health Science Center San Antonio has the Dental Early Acceptance Program. 3+4 . 3 Years undergraduate work+ 4 years dental school. Google it. But the course load is rigorous. Hope this helps.

1400/1600 for SAT? Could have sworn they changed it to out of 2400 with a writing portion... For seven years I'd just go to a regular undergrad then go to UoP after you graduate It'll probably much cheaper and the transition is not gunna punch you in the face. Undergrad, as useless as it seems when wanting to go to a health profession, is there as a stepping stone to get you ready for which ever path you wanna take. Who knows after a few years in the seven year program you may decide you wanted to do something else and at least undergrad gives you that option. So its best to just go to undergrad, and then UoP which is a 3 year program if you decide to stick with dental school. Judging by surfsup ima assume you're from cali like me so be ready cause UC deadline's are right around the corner =D.

no im from nj and yea the sats are out of 2400, but for the most part the colleges, especially 7 year programs i noticed only look at your score out of 1600. also i want to go to a 7 year school because it just makes life that much easier knowing ahead of time that if you do decent on your dat and meet the minimum gpa than youre automatically accepeted into dental school

sorry. UoP only guarantees an interview. You don't get automatic acceptance. You still have to be pretty much just as good as anyone else.

yea but if you pass the required gpa- prob like a 3.3 or a 3.5 and get like a decent 20 on the DAT you will be accepted into their school, they may not 100% guarantee, but if you pass the interview youre pretty much in.

As long as you take mildly challenging courses and dont fail them, you should be good. since you have over a 4.0 weighted gpa, it shows you took ap classes, so you seem to be fine, but grades arent the only factor. dont forget about sats and ap scores

yea i take all honors classes, but gpa for my school is out of 4.6 not 4.0 so my GPA is like an A- weighted

didnt know about that detroit one, the requirements are surprisngly low, and i am interested in tufts more thus far because of its location, but i couldnt find their requirements for 7 year program

If the OP doesn't want to go to school on the west coast I doubt they would want to first move to Texas for undergrad then apply to 3+4..but if you have questions shoot.

The ones I know of that have such programs are: UOP (which has 2+3 and 3+3 as well), NYU, BU. Temple University also has agreements with different colleges such as Juniata (among others), so I would look into that as well if I were you.

NYU has a 7 year dental program, both with it's own undergrad university and Adelphi University which is what I'm in. It isn't a guaranteed acceptance, it is conditional, but provided you maintain at least a 3.5 overall and science GPA and score at least a 20+ on the DAT you will get an interview.

i got into UOP 6 year dental with a 3.62gpa unweighted and a 1980 on my SATs. i'm sure you'll be fine

no offense but i do not hear the best things about nyu's dental so im not very interested in that. i talked to the dentist i am shadowing today and he actually advised me against the 7 year because he said you dont fully get to appreciate college, what is anyone else's take on this. also the person that said they were in uop, how do you like it so far there, and the atmosphere and location and such because iw as thinking of applying there

Google the following: Tufts 7 year dental. Then click on the first link to get to combined degree programs. Now, was that so hard?
