So my school uses the +/- scale with a B+ as a 3.5 and so I read on AACOMAS that:

If the institution values +/- grades differently, please
enter the value in the AACOMAS Grade column. Enter
the numeric grade for plus grades (e.g., 3.5, 2.5, or 1.5).
Enter letter grades for all other grades. This difference
must be documented on the reverse of the transcript.

So that means I basically put down a 3.5 on my AACOMAS application right?

Does AACOMAS recalculate AGAIN back to a 3.3?

Which scale should i use?

It means you put down whatever your school states it is, and as long as it is documented on your transcript it is fine.

I.e. if you have a B+ stating it is 3.5 - AACOMAS will keep them like that.

At least that makes sense, otherwise why would they make a point of mentioning it.

I like your school better 😛

Wow thats a pretty significant boost to anyone's gpa that has that conversion...

I'm not complaining but isn't that slightly unfair?

How is AACOMAS standardizing grades if it still allows different grading systems lol?

You just put that you got a B+ or an A-. AACOMAS will give you the 3.X. I believe A- is 3.7 and B+ is 3.3, but I may be mistaken.

A B+ at your school is no better or worse than a B+ at any other school.

At the end, AACOMAS will calculate your GPA according to how your school did it. Happened to my roommate that went to an undergrad with that type of scale

Based on n=1 of the above poster, they will go by your schools scale?

That's what I assumed, but I thought the whole point was to standardize. Not complaining I guess, just curiosity.

I mean, ask AACOMAS as well, but that's what I have seen.

It also happened to me having been to multiple schools. It went by an odd scale that would give you a GPA according to percentage in the course and they kept the GPA consistent with what the schools would give me.

My school labels B+ as 3.25 and A- as 3.75. AACOMAS calculated each as 3.3 and 3.7 respectively. Ultimately this barely affected me, so I didn't look into it. Maybe if I did, they would have looked into it (they made other big mistakes that weren't fixed until I contacted them). Just make sure you review the final processed app thoroughly, and ask them if you have any doubts about something.

If your numeric grade is on your transcript, I'd say it's safe to enter it that way.

Agreed. Because if not, OP, AACOMAS will drop your gpa from what you're looking at right now (sans retakes of course)
