I am a CA resident which puts me in the unfortunate position of being in a state where admission is very very competitive while having a disadvantage applying to some OOS schools, which happen to be as expensive as the private CA dental schools

here is some background info:
finishing bachelor degree in sociology this fall (but might switch to psychology, not sure if dental schools thinks sociology major means = easy As in their opinion)

all pre-reqs at a CC unfortunately, but took three upper division biology classes and got As in all of them. I also only had about 4 semesters where I took full time courseload (15-21 units) but also worked full time. the other 5 semesters I took about 8-9 units but also had a full time work.

sGPA: 3.73
oGPA: 3.74
BCP GPA: 3.76
taking DAT at end of june
1500 volunteer hours/55 shadowing hours
6 years work experience

AT Still
Midwestern (AZ)
Midwestern (IL)
Western
Roseman (UT)
UNLV
USC
UCLA
UOP

can anyone give me any advice on the school list?

Yikes, you should look at all the schools individually regarding CC credits. I know many wont accept it.

It's hard to tell without DAT scores. State schools and a few private is the way to go, and you're doing that so far. Are you trying to stay out west (besides MWU-IL)? Roseman is probably the most sketchy of all of those...but DAT plays a factor with them.

Check this if you haven't regarding CC credits.

If it's just your pre-reqs at CC, you'll likely be fine with your whole list as far as meeting their limits. Of course there's always the unofficial/unwritten policies that will give preference to the candidate without or with less CCs. Upper division performance is good. Now, it comes back to the DAT performance on sciences.

yeah DAT is the wild card, my counselor said it, dentist said it, etc. I can easily schedule the DAT for mid june but I keep thinking im not really prepared so I keep postponing so I could brush up on things I am shaky on. sounds stupid but I actually had a nightmare where I failed the DAT badly and couldnt retake bc the 3 month limit would make me the last applicant for admission.

yes jeffity I am trying to stay on the west coast for family reasons. If I somehow get a >25 on the DAT then maybe I'll look into Harvard/Columbia

End of June is fine. Don't rush it. GPAs are looking good, so as long as you don't bomb any sections, I think you'll have a good, early app and you'll be well on your way. It unfortunately is a stats game for the most part. ASDOH will enjoy your volunteer work though.
