So I'm just starting my prereqs in my junior year. Can anyone reccomend some of the first prereqs to take during the fall? I'm thinking bio 1 and physics 1. People told me not to mix chemistry 1 with bio 1 because of labs. Is this true? I plan on taking latin also in the fall.

Schedule looks like this atm:
Bio 1
Physics 1
Latin
Neuropsychology
?
?

I need help choosing 2 more classes.

I am a interdisciplinary studies major.

haha. oh man. You are thinking too hard. Relax.

Take the required classes that you must take but you can take them however you want. Do what is best for you. I had no problems with taking two labs at one time. I actually liked the labs for bio and didn't do much for chemistry. So take them as they fit into your schedule, just don't overwhelm yourself. You have to get very good grades.

As far as what other classes, take something fun. Med schools are looking for well-rounded candidates, which is fancy code for people who do something other than medicine. Even residencies are looking for people who have hobbies, So start developing something that you can keep up on. Fun classes would look the best.

If you insist on classes that would help you in med school I'd recommend classes like microbio or immunology if your school has them. Good luck.

Oh.. It just I keep hearing if you take a light schedule med schools might think I won't be able to take the heavy course load of med school.

It doesn't mean you have to punish yourself every semester... Just don't be taking every p.e. class you can and stretching out your time in undergrad. As far as labs mixing with chemistry, physics is also going to have a lab... Go look at course requirements for a few schools and start chipping away from there.

I don't mind Physics because I took it in high school at AP level and received a 5 on the AP exam. Physics comes to me naturally. Chemistry on the other hand, I can't seem to grasp it the same way I d other subjects. But I think I decided on taking bio 1, physics, neuropsychology, latin, and some class needed for my major that is easy.

I guess my answer would depend on your aptitude for the given sciences. I am good at chem, ochem, and bio, I suck at calc and physics... for me, I took bio/chem/calc and did decently in them... Most of your science prereqs are going to have labs, I think biochem (if you take it) is one of the few that don't require lab time. Just don't go too crazy because they are more likely to care about the grade you received than how many you took at one time... The GPA counts for more...

its up to you!! Look at your trend in your other grades and look from there!!! Also, make sure you feel like you can do it. Believe in yourself; you be surprised from your ability to do things!!

I definitely agree with what others have already said, take things at your pace and take your time. Despite being a Junior, there really is no reason to rush things and then perform poorly this late in the game. I highly recommend taking labs with lecture, but taking a Chemistry and Biology course in the same semester won't necessarily kill you but it all depends on your learning style and whether or not you like labs (personally I love labs, but some don't). Good luck as you finish up your pre-reqs.
