Hey guys,
I have been accepted to the med school of my choice and have withdrawn from the other schools that I applied to. I am currently pursuing a 1 year medical science program and indicated this on my AMCAS. My acceptance letter states that I must complete any degree or coursework that I am pursuing prior to matriculation in Fall 2010.
I am considering the masters program to pursue a project of mine before med school, but would like to discuss the consquences of dropping the masters. Before I started the masters program, I was mentally/physically exhausted after having finished my thesis, MCAT, and AMCAS and questioned my ability to perform at peak performance in the masters program, but I decided to pursue it anyways. Now 3/4 of the semester done, I think I have hit rock bottom in terms of my motivation for completeing the masters.I dont want to enter med school like this and would like to take time off, but to do something productive in that time. I am very much interested in pursuing a project in my town that seeks to raise funds for homeless housing/food needs via recycling prior to entering medical school.
I would like to finish the semester up, but I am afraid that if i continue to pursue the masters and my grades dip that not only will I be kicked out of program, but also lose my med school admission for which I have worked so hard. Before I go talk to the deans of masters and med school in 2 weeks, is there any advice anyone can give me on how to handle this situation?
