Hi guys, I have until 12 am to add/drop a course without having it count as a W. I am applying to med schools in Texas, and a couple of the schools require Statistics (Texas Tech and Texas AM). I already have a full course load, along with MCAT prep course, and taking stats would make my life much much more hectic. I was wondering if I could take stats during my off year ( I'm a senior this year, doing the four-year plan), would the two schools count that, or do I need to have taken stats before I apply? Thank you so much for your help

90% sure you only have to have all the school's prereqs completed by the time you matriculate, not by the time you apply.

On the primary application, there will be a field for "future courses", so you could enter it as one in anticipation of taking it next year.

Yup, you just need to get it done by the time you START school.

And don't think that they will magically forget and you'll get away without it. Two students in my class thought the med school wouldn't care but then ended up having to take a course over the summer before starting.

Thanks so much for the help. However, I couldn't drop stats, now I have to take it. I just flushed away any remaining time I had for a social life, but I guess Med School is priority number one, so no pain no gain lol 🙂

Stats is really helpful in terms of research (not sure if you care), and it is much more useful, imho, than calc
