OK OK I'll stop my questions...soon.:banana:

So I was wondering what I should do about... taking calc 2 with bio, chem 2, english, intro to neuroscience. that adds up to 18 credits which is overload at my school, so ill have to pay some more for that 18th credit. My GPA if you havent looked at my other thread on the first page, is 3.15 and sGPA is 3.52.

The original plan was to take calc 2 with my friend because we made a good team but sadly, he did not pass calc 1 so he has to retake it. He wants me to take it 3rd semester with him because of good partnership. BUT the problem there is that I am taking ochem 1 and bio 2 with english and probably another course i can't remember.
SO should I take it now with my overloaded schedule OR take it with ochem?:boom:

Totally unrelated to your thread, but is calculus 2 fun? I feel as if everyone here takes it! Am I missing something?
🙂

I don't think it will be any easier to take the course this semester as opposed to next semester, but if your cGPA is 3.15, I would not recommend taking 18 credits at once. I would advise cutting down the number of credits to a level where you are confident that you can get a 4.0 or close to a 4.0.

By the way, unless it's a requirement for your major, there is no reason to take Calc II at all. Very few med schools require Calc II, and statistics would probably be a more useful math course for a future doctor.

For me it was a major requirement. For a lot of other people it is a gen ed requirement. I personally hated Calc II. Calc I had a lot of concepts that are generally useful in physics, economics, and statistics, but Calc II was full of useless crud like computing log(1.111).

Both options are equally doable. However, your GPA indicates that you may struggle with too many science classes at once. I wouldn't base this on what your friend is taking, they aren't your problem. In your situation, I would take Calc II as soon as possible just to get it out of the way and progress in the degree, but if you choose this I would really recommend you adopt better time management and study skills so you can score higher. There's really no right answer here.

I'll echo what Euxox said. The key here is not to take the classes as quickly as possible, but to do as well as possible especially since your GPA isn't where you want it at this point. Having fewer courses at a time to worry about will probably help with that. I don't think calculus and organic chem in the same semester is unreasonable as long as you don't have other tough classes then as well.

Pretty sure you need Calc 2 as a prerequisite for Physics. At least for my school it was.

You should probably cut it down some. Your GPA can't take too many more hits.

Calc II is NOT fun.

Turned my 3.7 this semester into a 3.5. It was one of the most boring classes I've ever taken but my professor certainly didn't help.

It shouldn't be. I don't see what integration techniques, series, etc. have to do with physics.

I think you can handle the course load so long as you know what you're getting yourself into. Reiterating what everyone else has said, be careful not to overload yourself. Don't bother waiting for your friend; he should be a non-factor in your decision!

Also, are you involved in any extracurriculars? If you are, I would cut back on the units.
