Hello Everyone,

I took the DAT at the end of July 2007 and I received the following scores, I got all 17's , 18 in OC, and a 15 in QR. I had hoped for higher. I dont know if I should re-take the test, since you have to wait 90 days it is I beleive before re-taking it, so that will be sometime in October. Will it be too late then? I have already submitted my application to a couple of schools, I plan on applying to more, mostly in the northeast. what does it mean to place your application on hold and how does it affect your chances, I mean does it get too late? Please help me by giving me some advice. I 'll really appreciate it a lot! Thanks 🙂

I think you should retake it in October. First of all you remember too many thing by then in compair to next year and 2nd December is the due date for lots of school. I had friends that got into dental school while thet took their 1st DAT in OCT and NOV.

it is possible to still gain admission but u must blow it away.simply put the later ur app goes into play the lower your chances become. good luck.

Well, in on hand, I think you shouldn't retake it in Oct because it's late. I would say you should retake next summer because you will have more time to study. I have very similar stat as yours, and I decide to retake next yir because I will be so busy in the fall with 3 bio classes. On the other hand, if you have BS already and don't have to study anything, go for it

It depends on how much time your willing to put into it. If you truly can dedicate all of your time from now until october to studying then i would retake it. But if you have school starting and you have to balance the two then i would say postpone. You've already taken it once and recently so you know the type of questions on there and you know your weaknesses. I think if you give it your all for a solid month and a half and build on the foundation you built while studying for your first test then you should be fine. October is still not too late as long as you do well ( atleast a 19/20) some schools interview until april granted it gets harder and harder to get accepted the longer you wait. In the mean time i would contact all the schools and inform them that your retaking it. Make sure that your file is complete and all that they need is your new DAT score.
