I'm in a situation 3 weeks out til my MCAT (Septmeber 7th) that if I go in and take it I know that I will NOT be at least over 90% confident taking the exam. Things happened over my study period that forced me to take a break from the books. It affected BS content in which I am still reviewing material today. I should be taking practice exams at this point but everyone says not to take FLs till I am done with the material. It is frustrating but I have been taking separate sections because I am comfortable with PS and Verbal. It seems it will take me a while to finish my BS content review (about 7 days), let alone master it.
I am very comfortable with PS scoring 10s and 11s.
Verbal still needs practice as I am scoring 8s and 9s.
I did score a 7 on a Bio section one week ago.
The issue is that the next exam date is in late January 2014. I will be applying in the 2014 cycle in the summer between my 2nd and 3rd year.
I have a 3.7 cGPA as a bio major with a 3.75 sGPA. I know I can do 32+ because I have never hit a academic ceiling, but I am skeptical if I can do it in 3 weeks.
One half of me is telling me that if I work super hard right now I will be able to improve and take the exam and do well and the other is telling me that I've overworked myself and to use logic that I need more time.
It is partially true that I am burning out from studying because I started right after spring semester final exams.
I am leaning towards postponing but I do not know the dangers of postponing 5 months.
(I will retake if I score 31 or less)
I do have the luxury of time before I apply in summer 2014.
Late January is a long time from now, I can possibly take advantage of that to master the material but I do not know if there are disadvantages to studying for that long. Will I forget the material I studied? Please tell me what you think.
Postpone or Go Hard and Possibly Retake?
