Hello everyone,

So I've just started studying for my DATs, and signed up for a Kaplan class, but I'm having second thoughts on when I want to take my DAT. I've finished gen bio and chem 1 and 2, and orgo 1 and 2, and I've taken a cell bio class. They say that you're supposed to take the test a few weeks after the Kaplan class is done (I'm using other study methods of course, like Barron's and DAT Destroyer). I'm going into my Junior year, is this august too early to be taking my DAT?

I personally wouldn't take the DAT until summer after Junior year... which leaves you plenty of time to start preparing! 😛

I am in the summer of my Junior year and I am taking it for the first time. But, I wish I had taken it when I was in my Sophmore year summer!!! Everything is as fresh as it could be. And, if you take it at that point, and do well your mind is at ease and come application time, you don't have to worry about what you will get on the DAT. Also, if you do badly, there is room for a retake. But, I would suggest take it when you feel the most ready. Don't tell yourself that you can just retake it, because this is not an exam you want to take more than once. Studying is stressful and you basically have no life till it is over. But when you take it is up to you. I would try to study and take it now if I were you unless you don't feel ready!
