So I'm making the big leap from premed to pre pharm, don't feel like explaining it right now lol, pharmacy is just more attractive to me. Anyways just a couple quick questions. Do schools mainly look at your pre req gpa? And what about grade replacement? I currently go to Texas Tech and I know their pharm school looks just at the pre req gpa and they take the highest grade in a retake. Oh and do you have to be a science major? Thanks in advance for the help.

Pleeeeaaaase read the FAQ and search diligently, this has all been covered ad nauseum.

Your questions are not unique in any way.

+1... You will find a TON of useful info in the FAQ. After reading the FAQ, searching the forum for information, and utilizing the PM system, feel free to post up new/individual questions. Welcome to Prepharmacy. Our world is definitely different than PreMed, you will want to get acquainted with the differences.

School will look at all your grades. Yes, how well you did in you prereqs will matter more than how you did in your other classes, but they will still take all grades into consideration.

So far the only schools I know that do grade replacement are USN and Tech. I don't know how USN's grade replacement works, but Tech's has a catch. When your app is first reviewed, your GPA will be calculated using the highest scores you have in your prereqs. If you then get offered an interview, all of your grades, your PCAT scores, and other aspects of your app will get thrown out. Your interview will be scored from 0-100. After the interview the adcom will rank the applicants based on their interview score. This is where bad grades will hurt you. For every D you have made in a prereq you will lose 5 interview points. For every F 10 interview points. So having bad grades can still haunt you.

All of this info was found here

Give it a read, it has a lot of good info. Page 22 is a good place to start if you want to read about applying.

Lastly, you do not have to be a science major to apply to pharm school, just as long as you do the prereqs. It's convenient however to be one since many prereqs fall under classes you need for your major.
