Hi, first time poster here! I am an undergraduate senior and will be applying this upcoming cycle. I should be able to submit everything by beginning of June (end of June at latest). I plan on applying very broadly (about 15-20 schools) since I don't have very great stats.

My stats are:
3.38 oGPA
3.25 sGPA
3.21 BCP GPA

I have a slight upward trend in that I've gotten at least a 3.6 in the past four quarters. My intro biology courses brought down my sGPA significantly.

DAT: 22 AA/21 TS/20 BIO/21 OC/24 GC/23 QR/23 RC/20 PAT.

My EC's are nothing too special. I've volunteered at my undergrad's dental school as well as a community clinic. I've accumulated about 175 hours total. Also participated in a day long event hosted by my undergrad's dental school where you practice basic hands-on dental procedures (suturing, filling, impressions, etc...). I have about 50 shadowing hours and definitively will boost that number up in the next two months.

Also, LOR's should be good, but not stellar.

So, basically I have a below average GPA, above average DAT score, and decent EC's/LOR's. Honestly, I'm not expecting to get tons of interviews/acceptances, but what are my chances of getting in? Honest feedback is appreciated! Thank you so much!

I am sorry but I read your thread a while back and you are still trying to get into dental school by doing some post bach correctly?

Based on what data you use you give the number 70%?

I never needed to do postbac and I already got in.

If he's applying to that many schools in June, he should get in somewhere with his gpa/dat unless he really botches his interview or something.

Your stats are similar to mine and I was successful this past cycle so you definitely have a good shot. My ECs, however, were significantly better than yours. So its hard to say.

You need more shadowing hours before you apply, bring that number to higher than the minimum required of 100. Make sure you research each school's minimum requirements for stats, and avoid applying to schools that are not so friendly with OOS (e.g. the TX schools, or some of the CA schools, unless you are IS). Also limit the number of schools that are far reaching (Upenn, Columbia, etc.) for your stats, unless you have tons of money to spend. Pile on a few of the private schools (Roseman, BU, NYU, etc.). On your list of 15-20 schools, there should be no more than 3-4 that are far reaching, including schools that are not "top schools", so you can maximize your chances. Good luck!

I'd say you have a close to 50% chance of getting in. Your GPAs are on the low side... but you will probably get into a private/a newer dental school. You have solid DAT scores. Good luck!
