Recently I was placed on waitlist of a school that I would love to attend, probably due to my MCAT score. Now I am contemplating of wether to retake the MCAT or not. By retaking the MCAT I can imporve the score and increase my chances of acceptance to the desired school. But if my MCAT score falls below my current score does the school that I have already been accepted to has the right to take back my acceptace?

I don't know that this is very helpful, but I had two thoughts. The first is that you might call and ask the school without giving your name. The second is that the AAMC doesn't send scores to a school unless you ask them to, so I wouldn't think you'd have to send your newer scores to the school that has already accepted you...I could definitely be wrong about that, but it seems right. Oh! And what makes you think you'll do worse this time around? I mean, I can see a school rejecting you after acceptance if your score falls dramatically, but is there any reason to think it'll happen like that?

Also, be sure to let the school you've been waitlisted at know that they're your favorite...it might help?

Either way, good luck--I hope you go somewhere great.

Dude, I didn't have amazing MCAT scores by any measure. And I'm not being modest. Wait it out--I got off SEVERAL waitlists as did most people that applied last year.

i think you'd be better of waiting to find out what happens before retaking.

do you have any other acceptances?

Well your scores from the retake won't be out till June. By that time most of the admissions decisions have been made. I doubt an improved MCAT score at that date would influence your acceptance one way or another. I definitely wouldn't worry about a school revoking an acceptance. That just would not happen.

Congratulations on getting an acceptance!
