Hello, I just took the DATs yesterday and I really messed up in the RC section. How important is the RC score and do you think it will stop from getting interviews? thanks

PAT: 18
QR: 18
RC: 15 😡
BIO: 23
GC: 21
OC: 25
TS: 23
AA: 20

It is my understanding that RC is the most important score at almost all the schools. I'm not sure how much they will look down on it though due to your high overall scores. And plus, it's hard to improve on your overall score when it's as high as it is. I'd be afraid to lower the sections that you have already scored so well on. Best advice I can give is to call the schools and see what they think. It might stop you from getting interviews depending on where you applied.

i think you should def get interviews somewhere...it depends on the school i think..when i interviewed at case one of my interviewers said they look mostly at PAT and RC, but again i think you should be fine at most schools..good luck 👍

i forgot to add that my sGPA is 3.67, nsGPA 3.65, and cGPA 3.60. thanks

A friend of mine at UCLA told me that the most important sections they look at is bio, rc, and PAT (no order). It would make sense for these areas to recieve special attention since they do pertain more to our success in dental school. im pretty sure your RC score may hurt your chances at UOP.

on that other thread that had the link showing correlation between DAT section scores and 1st year GPA and Board I scores, RC was the section that had the least correlation. Therefore, I would guess most schools wouldn't care as much about RC as they would the other sections.

thank you all for your feedback.

I am applying to case, osu, west virginia, tufts, and nyu. do you think these schools care much about RC?

I am also going to call michigan tomorrow and see what they think of my scores and if they say anything positive, I'll go ahead and add that school on aadsas.

Again, thank you everybody

do you guys know anybody with low RC scores that got into a dental school?

I know someone with a reaaaaaaaally low score in RC that got accepted to a few places. He had a 13 I believe. He just had a really good excuse for it and did well in everything else (I think he ended with a 20 overall AA). You just have to tell them why that happened...you werent breathing right/were dizzy etc.
