Hey ya'll so im currently a junior at UGA but am planning on applying to dental school in Augusta this summer (Georgia Regents University) as my first choice and a few other schools around Georgia as well. I was hoping someone can give me some insight on my chances. I am taking a Kaplan course right now, and am taking the DAT this may. I did average on the diagnostic and that was with zero studying so I am confident in myself. The thing that worries me most is my GPA. It is currently a 3.2, but I still have this semester, summer semester and my whole senior year to help that out. I have had a HUGE upwards trend since freshman year and made straight A's last semester. My science GPA is currently a 3.6. I have volunteered a quite a few organizations around town, and am now volunteering at a dental clinic. I also have worked at a doctors office for 3 years now. I am originally from Central America but am a Georgia resident, and graduated from a Georgia high school with a 4.0

Sorry for blabbing on! Thanks for your input

i think your academic record is somewhat competitive

but getting avg score on kap dat is like being the valedictorian at home school

take the real dat first and then fellow sdn scholars may be able to help you out

kthnx plz comeagain

The kaplan tests are not really an accurate reflection of how you will do on the real thing. For those, you should definitely shooting for above average scores. Your sgpa is stellar though, and you can probably continue to raise it throughout the rest of college. Also, the fact that you are originally from Central America will give you a more competitive edge.
